10.00 start and then again from 13.00 for afternoon session and finish about 16.00. Take minor road south from Nettleton Top (road from Nettleton to Claxby) take first track on right side and park to side of track at first bend at TF112978. Nearest postcode: LN7 6TA

Steep slopes present so stout footwear recommended. Nearest ‘public’ toilets in Caistor town hall.

Habitats: Calcareous grassland, springs, marsh and small areas of scrub/woodland.

reshney Bog, just west of Grimsby

10.00 start and then again from 13.00 for afternoon session. Meet at car parking area next to St. Michael’s Church in Little Coates (off the A1136) at TA241090.  Nearest postcode: DN34 4ND. NB. There will be collecting for the LoveLincsPlants herbarium project. Can be a very wet site so wellingtons recommended. Nearest toilets probably in local supermarket or McDonalds.

Habitats: Marsh, ponds, wet woodland, rough grassland, River Freshney.

MEETING SUMMARY
Great LNU field meeting to Freshney Bog area. Forty five bird species noted including Cetti’s Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat and Bullfinch. Also, Red-eared Terrapin, Otter spraints, Water Voles, Great Crested Newt, Eel, Dock Bug, Spiked Shieldbug and many Painted Ladies and Emperor Dragonflies. Thirty plant specimens collected for the LoveLincsPlants Herbarium Project. Large stands of Common Meadow-rue and Meadow Crane’s-bill noted.
