Joint talk with the Lincolnshire Bird Club
Lincolnshire Rooks; Living in the shadow of Ash dieback by Andrew Chick. 2pm start.
The talk will look at 70 years of rook studies in Lincolnshire, starting with the 1947 LNU Transaction paper and comparing the results of the 2017 Lincolnshire Bird Club survey which inspected over 250 rookeries and counted 5959 nests. During the 1980’s a detailed survey of the trees utilised by nesting rooks was undertaken to assess the likely impact of Dutch Elm Disease on Lincolnshire birds; some 30 years later we are now assessing the potential impact that Chalara dieback will have on Lincolnshire wildlife.
